How to Update Safe PST Backup to Latest Version

Step 1. Right-click the Windows Start button and select the Apps and Features option.

Step 2. In the Apps and Features window, locate the 4Team Safe PST Backup application and click on it. The version number will be visible there.

How to check if an update is available

Step 1. Launch the Safe PST Backup application. Right-click its icon in the system tray (located in the bottom right corner of your screen) and select the About Safe PST Backup option.

Step 2. In the About window, click the Check for Update button and select the Check for updates now option from the drop-down menu.

You will be redirected to a Safe PST Backup web page where you will see if an update is available. If an update is available, you will see download options.

If you have the latest version already, there will be nothing new to download.

You can also check the Safe PST Backup version history page. Inside you will see the latest version number at the top of the list.

How to check license validity before updating Safe PST Backup to the latest version

It is very important that your Safe PST Backup license is valid if you want to update to the latest Safe PST Backup version. If you try to update with an expired license, Safe PST Backup will revert to a Free version.

Step 1. Open up your browser and go to the 4Team Members Area page. Log in to your 4Team Members account.

Step 2. Once logged into your account, click the My Activations option located on the left side of the page.

Step 3. On the My Activations page, you will find your activation keys and you will be able to see your license Status.

How to update Safe PST Backup to the latest version

There are two most commonly used methods to update Safe PST Backup: updating via Safe PST Backup app itself, or uninstalling the old Safe PST Backup version and installing a new one.

Method #1

Step 1. Launch the Safe PST Backup application. Right-click the Safe PST Backup icon in the system tray (located bottom right corner of your screen) and select the About Safe PST Backup option.

Step 2. In the About window, click the Check for Update button and select the Check for updates now option from the drop-down menu.

You will be redirected to a Safe PST Backup web page where you will see if an update is available. If an update is available, you will see download options.

Step 3. Click the Install Update button.

Step 4. A setup file will be downloaded. Wait for the download to finish and run the setup file when ready. If you cannot find where the setup was downloaded, press the CTRL+J combination in your browser to open the Downloads page.

Step 5. The setup will ask if you want to perform an upgrade of Safe PST Backup. Click the Yes button.

Step 6. Follow the setup wizard until the installation is complete.

Method #2

The second method involves uninstalling the old Safe PST Backup version via Apps and Features, and then downloading and installing the latest Safe PST Backup version directly from the www.safepstbackup.com website.

Step 1. Uninstall the current 4Team Safe PST Backup application you have via Settings > Apps > Select 4Team Safe PST Backup application and Uninstall

Step 2. Visit the Safe PST Backup website and click the Download button at the top of the page.

Step 3. On the Downloads page, click the More Download Links option.

Step 4. Close the Thank you for downloading Safe PST Backup popup or subscribe if you haven't already.

Step 5. Select the correct download link for your Outlook's bit version. To find out what bit version of Outlook you have, please follow the How to find Outlooks bit version article.

Step 6. A setup file will be downloaded with _x64 or _x86 at the end of its name to help you distinguish the setup file from the one downloaded previously. Make sure you run the installation of the new file with a longer name.

Note: x64 is for 64-bit Outlook and x86 is for 32-bit systems.

Step 7. Run the installation file, follow the installation wizard and finish installing the Safe PST Backup application.

Tips:

  • It's always a good idea to re-check the Safe PST Backup version after an update to make sure it's the latest one.
  • Do not update Safe PST Backup to the latest version unless your Safe PST Backup license is valid.
  • Make sure you install the correct bit version of Safe PST Backup to match Outlook's bit version.
  • Safe PST Backup does not auto-update. Updates always need to be done manually.
