What do Sync2 Cloud and Sync2 have in common?
Both Sync2 and Sync2 Cloud can sync desktop Outlook as a given, that's their main purpose. They both are capable of syncing desktop Outlook with Google (Gmail). Each app can sync calendars, contacts, and tasks.
However, each application performs sync between Outlook and Google a bit differently.
When it comes to syncing categorized Outlook calendar events, Sync2 will sync them with Google calendar without category colors.
However, Sync2 Cloud will sync them with colors. It is capable of doing that with Google and Office 365/Exchange.
When it comes to syncing categorized Outlook Contacts between Outlook and Google, Sync2 can sync Outlook Contact Categories with Google Contact Groups (labels). However, Sync2 is only capable of syncing a single Outlook Contacts folder with the main Google Contacts folder - My Contacts.
Sync2 Cloud does not sync Outlook Contacts categories. Instead, it can sync multiple Google Contact groups (labels) with different Outlook Contacts folders.
Both applications are capable of advanced configuration where you can adjust filter settings, map specific Outlook folders with specific Google folders, etc.
What are the differences between Sync2 and Sync2 Cloud?
The biggest difference is that Sync2 Cloud is only capable of syncing desktop Outlook with cloud-based services like Google, iCloud, Exchange, Yahoo. hence its name - Sync2 "Cloud".
Additionally, Sync2 Cloud is capable of syncing with several types of CalDAV calendars and tasks, Zoho calendar, and is also capable of syncing shared folders and public folders with Outlook.
Sync2 is only capable of syncing with one cloud service - Google, however, it also has the possibility to sync between multiple machines via a Network or USB device.
When it comes to syncing between Outlook and Google, Sync2 can only sync calendars, contacts, and tasks, but when Network or USB sync profiles are used - it can sync pretty much any Outlook folder.
Backup/Restore options
Sync2 Cloud is capable of making periodic backups of synced items. It stores them in the Documents\Sync2CloudBackup folder in case a restore is needed.
It is also capable of restoring from available restore points.
Sync2 does not have such capabilities, which is why we additionally recommend SafePSTBackup for your backup needs.
Tips:
- Always read the System Requirements page on the website before installing the software.
- Never use both Sync2 and Sync2 Cloud to do the same job. They will conflict.
