How to Restore Google Contacts from Trash/Bin

2 min. readlast update: 10.17.2023

Google has introduced a great functionality that allows you to restore contacts after they were deleted. If you have accidentally deleted Google contacts, you can restore them from the Bin folder. Google keeps a record of your deleted contacts from the last 30 days.

Retrieve deleted contacts from the trash/bin by following these steps:

Step 1. Open your browser and go to www.google.com/contacts. Login to your Google account if necessary.

Step 2. On the left side of the Google Contacts page, click on the Bin option at the bottom.

Step 3. Inside the Bin window, you will see all the contacts that were deleted over the last 30 days. It even lists the reason that the contact ended up in the Bin in the first place.

Select the contact(s) you want to restore. You can select specific contacts by clicking on each individual contact item or use the above menu option to select contacts in bulk. Once the selection is made, click the Recover button.

Depending on the number of contacts you are restoring, the process may take a while but after it is done, get back to your main Google Contacts folder to see your restored contacts.

Tips:

  • Keep in mind that Google only stores the last 30 days of deleted contacts. If a contact was deleted more than a month ago, unfortunately, you will be unable to recover it.
  • Make sure you periodically back up your contacts by exporting them. Learn how to export Google contacts by following the How to Export Google Contacts article.
