Adding Google and iCloud sources to SyncGene
Step 1. Once you log in to your new SyncGene account for the first time, you will see a dropdown in the middle of the page asking you to start adding sources to SyncGene. Click the ADD SOURCE button.
Step 2. We will start by adding Google source first. In the Add Source window pick the Google option.
Step 3. You will be re-directed to the Google login page where you input your Google account login credentials. If credentials are entered correctly - SyncGene will ask you to grant permission to use your Google account data. Click Allow button.
Step 4. Once Google source is successfully added, start adding the iCloud source. In the Add Source window pick the Apple iCloud option.
Step 5. In the iCloud login window, you will need to input your Apple ID and app-specific password. Please keep in mind that this is not your regular iCloud password. You need to generate an app-specific password for your iCloud account. Learn how to do that following this article on How to Generate an App-Specific Password for iCloud.
Setting up Calendar synchronization
Step 1. Once both Google and iCloud sources are added to SyncGene, you can start synchronization with default settings, but for this tutorial, we will be adjusting SyncGene filter settings to only sync Calendars. In the dropdown menu click the folders/groups to sync option.
Step 3. In the Selected Folders/Groups window make sure only Synchronize Calendars checkbox is checked. Click the SAVE button after you made your adjustments.
Step 4. Click the Sync All button to initiate the synchronization preparation.
Step 5. A Backup warning popup will appear asking you if you want to backup your data before sync. Click the PROCEED WITH BACKUP button and SyncGene will ask permission to store backup data in your Google Drive. Click Allow button.
Step 6. The synchronization process will start. Wait for it to complete.
Tips:
- Make sure to always proceed with backup if SyncGene asks you to. Backups can only be stored in Google Drive.
