How to Update OST2 to Latest Version

There are several steps to take into consideration when updating to the latest OST2 version:

Why is it important to keep the version of OST2 up to date

Because of outside factors like Microsoft Outlook or Windows version changes, OST2 needs to change as well to keep up. With each new OST2 version, new functionalities can be introduced, bugs fixed, and old functionalities discontinued. Most importantly - we do not provide support for old releases as part of our general policy.

A new version of OST2 is released every few months unless there is urgency and a need for a patched build.

How to check the current OST2 version number

Step 1. Launch the OST2 application. Click the Help button and select the About option from the drop-down menu.

In the About window, you will see the version of the application written at the top.

You can also check the OST2 version in Apps and Features.

Step 1. Right-click the Windows Start button and select the Apps and Features option.

Step 2. In the Apps and Features window, locate the 4Team OST2 application and click on it. The version number will be visible there.

You can also check the OST2 version history page. Inside you will see the latest version number at the top of the list.

How to check if an update is available

Step 1. Launch the OST2 application. Click the Help button and select the About option from the drop-down menu.

Step 2. In the About window, click the Check for Update button and select the Check for updates now option from the drop-down menu.

You will be redirected to the OST2 web page where you will see if an update is available. If an update is available, you will see download options.

If you have the latest version already, there will be nothing new to download.

How to check license validity before updating OST2 to the latest version

It is very important that your OST2 license is valid if you want to update to the latest OST2 version. If you try to update with an expired license, OST2 will revert to the Free version.

Step 1. Open up your browser and go to the 4Team Members Area page. Log in to your 4Team Members account.

Step 2. Once logged into your account, click the My Activations option located on the left side of the page.

Step 3. On the My Activations page, you will find your activation keys and you will be able to see your license Status.

How to update OST2 to the latest version

There are two most commonly used methods to update OST2: updating via the OST2 app itself, or uninstalling the old OST2 version and installing a new one.

Method #1

Step 1. Launch the OST2 application. Click the Help button and select the About option from the drop-down menu.

Step 2. In the About window, click the Check for Update button and select the Check for updates now option from the drop-down menu.

You will be redirected to the OST2 web page where you will see if an update is available. If an update is available, you will see download options.

Step 3. Click the Install Update button.

Step 4. A setup file will now be downloaded. Wait for the download to finish and run the setup file when ready. If you cannot find where the setup was downloaded, press the CTRL+J combination in your browser to open the Downloads page.

Step 5. The setup will ask if you want to perform an upgrade of OST2. Click the Yes button.

Step 6. Follow the setup wizard until the installation is complete.

Method #2

The second method involves uninstalling the old OST2 version via Apps and Features, and then downloading and installing the latest OST2 version directly from the www.ost2.com website.

Step 1. Uninstall the current 4Team OST2 application you have via Settings > Apps > Select 4Team OST2 application and Uninstall.

Step 2. Visit the OST2 website and click the Download button at the top of the page.

Step 3. On the Downloads page, click the Download now button.

Step 4. Close the Thank you for downloading OST2 popup or subscribe if you haven't already.

Step 5. Click the more Download Links option.

Step 6. Select the correct download link for your Outlook bit version. To find out what bit version of Outlook you have, please follow the How to find Outlooks bit version article.

Step 7. A setup file will be downloaded with _x64 or _x86 at the end of its name to help you distinguish the setup file from the one downloaded previously. Make sure you run the installation of the new file with a longer name.

Note: x64 is for 64-bit Outlook and x86 is for 32-bit systems.

Step 8. Run the installation file, follow the installation wizard and finish installing the OST2 application.

Tips:

  • It's always a good idea to re-check the OST2 version after an update to make sure it's the latest one.
  • Do not update OST2 to the latest version unless your OST2 license is valid.
  • Make sure you install the correct bit version of OST2 to match Outlook's bit version.
  • OST2 does not auto-update. Updates always need to be done manually.
  • The FREE and ENTERPRISE OST2 versions come in the same setup file, as long as OST2 is not activated - it's FREE, once it is activated - it becomes ENTERPRISE.
