vCard Wizard add-in does not launch (bit version mismatch)

In some cases, 4Team vCard Wizard will launch via its desktop icon, but will not start from Microsoft Outlook or the add-in does not show up in the main Outlook ribbon.

Most 4Team applications have 32-bit and 64-bit versions that support either 32-bit or 64-bit Microsoft Outlook versions. The correct 4Team application bit version must match the bit version of Microsoft Outlook.

If the wrong bit version is installed, the application will not function correctly.

Why does this happen?

This can happen when both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Outlook were installed in the user's system and left some registry keys in the Windows registry. These keys can confuse 4Team application setups when detecting the correct bit version of Microsoft Outlook in the user's system. As a result, the wrong bit version of the 4Team application gets installed instead.

How to check if the wrong bit version was installed?

First, find out your Outlook's bit version by following this article.

If your Outlook is 32-bit, open Windows File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\4Team Corporation, check if you can see your applications folder inside it. If there is no 4Team Corporation folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\, that means it's located in C:\Program Files\ where 64-bit applications are installed. This means the wrong bit version application was installed.

If your Outlook is 64-bit, open Windows File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\4Team Corporation, check if you can see your applications folder inside it. If there is no 4Team Corporation folder in C:\Program Files\, that means it's located in C:\Program Files (x86)\ where 32-bit applications are installed. This means the wrong bit version application was installed.

The application's bit version can also be checked by right-clicking on its icon and selecting Properties. In the Properties window, select the Shortcut tab. The application's installation path will be visible in the Target field.

A setup file will be downloaded with _x64 or _x86 at the end of its name to help you distinguish the setup file from the one downloaded previously. Make sure you run the installation of the new file with the longer name.

Note: _x64 is for 64-bit Outlook and _x86 is for 32-bit Outlook.

Tips:

  • If the correct bit version 4Team application is installed and you are still experiencing problems, please contact Live Help Chat support.
  • Your Windows bit version does not affect installation - only your Outlook bit version will.
  • Ensure that Microsoft Outlook is installed and fully configured. At least one account or data file must be added to Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ensure that Microsoft Outlook is working correctly. If it does not start, try repairing Microsoft Office via Control Panel > Programs and Features > Right-click on Microsoft Office installation > Change > Quick Repair.
